Assignments & Responsibilities

Over the years, VSSPC and its leadership have been entrusted with several key responsibilities by the Government and sericulture industry:

• 1. Selection of Seed Producer Beneficiaries under the Catalytic Development Programme, assigned by the Department of Sericulture, Government of Karnataka.
• 2. Mr.Gowda was appointed as Chairman of the Committee to investigate the causes of seed crop failures and recommend preventive measures to improve silkworm seed productivity and quality.

Awards & Recognitions

Mr. Ramachandra Gowda has represented India on multiple global platforms, traveling to over 10 countries for sericulture conferences, research and policy discussions. For his remarkable contributions to the silkworm seed sector and his efforts to modernize sericulture through state-of-the-art technology and for his uncompromising standards and morals he has received numerous State and National awards including:

• 1. Seth Baldeodas Shah Award (1996–97) -For outstanding contributions to the Indian silk industry, presented by the Central Silk Board.
• 2. Best Grainage Award by the Department of Sericulture, Government of Karnataka received consecutively for the years 2008–09 and 2009–10 for excellence in silkworm seed production.
